Though I've been to Truluck's a few times for Happy Hour with friends (half-priced appetizers and cocktails), somehow I have failed to experience a full dinner there. Last night I finally decided to change that stat on an impromptu date night. Opting against the Monday Night Stone Crab Special ($69.99 all-you-can-eat Pacific Stone Crab ... don't be deceived into thinking these are the delicious little crabbies found at Joe's during regular season!), we tried a variety of yumminess.
Starting at the bar area, I had the Acai Martini. Andrew did an original dirty - extra blue cheese stuffed olives (obviously). The piano man is hilarious and clearly has an affinity for John Mayer that I will never understand.
Moving to our table, as we went to order the Duckhorn Merlot, our waiter made us stop and try the Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc. I'm pretty much obsessed. Needless to say, we made a quick sub to the original order and probably looked much more sophisticated. I mean, who would order red wine with seafood?! Everything we ate was delicious, but the highlights (and things I will probably order every time I go back) were the: goat cheese crustini appetizer, miso glaze seabass and the carrot cake. We did try a few Pacific Stone Crab as an appetizer, but it doesn't live up to the expectations ... wait for regular season.
All things considered, Truluck's is now added to my mental restaurant rotation for more than just their stellar happy hour.
